BEST HAIR AT THE MET GALA 2016
This year’s theme for the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute gala was Manus vs. Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. The evening was filled with all types of looks, from sexy space aliens to futuristic vibes. Here are our favourite hair looks that you need to see which will hopefull inspire your next ‘do.
BEYONCÉ

Bey kept (hair) things really simple this year with pin straight hair. Bey is known for her ever-changing hairstyles, but the common thread is that she always looks classy. Even though she kept her hair simple, her edges looked perfect and her wig not only looked like her real hair, but the parting of the wig and her natural hair are perfectly positioned. 7/10
CIARA

Bow down B!*ches King Cici has arrived. This hair totally proved that Ciara can pull off anything. Her 20s inspired chromed out finger waves took us back and in the very same moment shot us straight into the future. Although this hair is probably not the best as everyday hair (for those with normal jobs), however if you want to turn heads, maybe this could be the hair for you. Ciara, 10/10
KYLIE JENNER

Kylie Jenner is known for hair amazing hair (extensions). She has rocked a variety of different looks this year, from green, pastel pink, blue and grey, this girl is the queen of hair color. She literally sets hair trends for tweens and women across the world. So when Kylie showed up in a jet black bob, we didn’t know what to think. We must say that she (18) looks very mature with this hair, and if that’s the look she was going for, she nailed it. To achieve this look, stick to the HBS Peruvian Slick hair. Not only does the hair look and feel great, it will always stay straight (unless styled differently) which means you can rock your bob without the fear of the hair changing shape. 7/10
ZENDAYA
Anyone remember Pearl Thusi’s hair at the Metros this year? Well for all those who didn’t understand what she was doing, here is another look. This retro, bowl-cut wig worked perfectly to shape Zendaya Coleman’s face and showed off her bronzed eyes. Although not everyone is running to get their hair done like this, we see her visions and are fully impressed by Zendaya’s personal beauty flare. 9/10
LUPITA NYONG’O
Lupita’s hair was sky high courtesy of a hair piece that needed to be seen to be believed. Her gravity-defying hairstyle reminded us of a cross between KimK’s Paper magazine cover hair and a character from Whoville, but better. This hair had everyone talking and really showed off the beauty of African hair and more so that natural hair can be unapologetically worn on the red carpet. Many women do not like wearing natural texture hair extensions, however, we believe that this may just change they way you feel about natural textured hair extensions. For similar hair extensions try the HBS BlowOut Hair. 8/10
JENNINFER HUDSON

Jennifer Hudson kept things short, sweet and simple, with her natural hair, styled in a sleek combed-back ‘do. The hair worked so well because it was slightly elevated and styled with a minimum poof. This hairstyle is great because it works well with many different face shapes. If your natural hair is relaxed, but not very thick, then add one 12″ bundle of the HBS Peruvian Slick Hair, and you too can achieve Jennifers look. 9/10
SOLANGE

Solange is known to go against the grain, and do things they ways she wants, and this year the met gala proved no different. Slayange killed her short, textured bob. Although this ‘do looks grand, be weary with this hair, it is not the easiest to maintain in winter. Because the curls have been brushed out, the hair is more likely to dry out and become frizzy. If you have a good hair serum to combat the dryness, then get the look with the HBS Cambodian Curl Hair. 8/10
JOURDAN DUNN

The supermodel not only wore a beautiful, metallic Olivier Rousteing gown, but she had silver grey hair to match. Her sleek bob was colored a complementary shade of silvery pewter. We absolutely love this look on Dunn because many say that the grey trend has come and go, but JDunn clearly proved that it is her to stay. Achieve her look with 2 bundles of 12″ HBS Peruvian Slick Hair, with a matching closure. The hair will need to be bleached and then coloured. It is advisable to take the hair to a professional, so as to minimize any potential damage to the hair. 8/10.
AJA NAOMI KING

We are not sure if Aja Naomi King got the memo, but nonetheless, her hair looked amazing. One of the best ways to have a great hair experience is to choose hair that is similar to your natural hair texture. Following this rule, it is difficult for us to spot whether or not Miss King has any extensions in her hair. The hair has been slightly styled, in a messy, one side half up ‘do. Although this hair looks very easy to achieve, it does take some patients, practise, and adjustments. Achieve a similar look with HBS Brazilan Swirl Hair, which blends effortlessly with African hair textures. 8/10
